EXTERIOR FINISHING & BUILDING ENVELOPE · Vancouver BC
Full Building-Envelope Contractor
Nixon is a complete exterior finishing and building-envelope contractor for Greater Vancouver. From the weather barrier out — siding, cladding, waterproofing, rainscreen, metal/ACM panels, windows, and doors — we install the whole exterior wall as one engineered system.
Exterior finishing in Vancouver is about more than looks — it is the system that keeps water, air, and heat where they belong. Nixon designs and installs the complete building envelope: structural sheathing, air and water barriers, insulation, rainscreen cavity, and finished cladding, all detailed to work together. Because we also fabricate and install the windows and doors, every penetration is flashed and sealed by one accountable trade.

No finger-pointing at the seams
When the siding sub, the window installer, and the waterproofing crew are three different companies, leaks happen at the hand-offs. Nixon owns every interface — window-to-cladding, deck-to-wall, penetration flashing — so there is one warranty and one number to call.
Detailing that meets the BC climate
Coastal BC drives rain sideways. We build pressure-equalized rainscreen walls with continuous drainage planes and back-ventilation, per BC Building Code and the City of Vancouver rainscreen requirements.
Manufacturer-trained installation
James Hardie, ACM panel, and membrane systems only carry their warranties when installed to spec. Our crews follow published install manuals and document the assembly as we go.
Commercial & residential
From a single-family rainscreen re-clad to a multi-unit ACM facade, we scale the same engineered approach with $5M liability coverage and full WorkSafeBC compliance.
Exterior Finishing FAQ
What is a building envelope?
The building envelope is every part of the exterior wall and roof assembly that separates inside from outside — sheathing, air and water barriers, insulation, rainscreen cavity, cladding, windows, and doors. A well-built envelope controls water, air, vapour, and heat. Nixon installs all of these layers as one coordinated system.
Do you do both siding and windows?
Yes. Nixon began as a window and door specialist and now delivers the complete exterior — siding, cladding, waterproofing, and rainscreen included. Because the same company installs the windows and the surrounding cladding, every opening is flashed and integrated correctly.
What cladding materials do you install?
James Hardie fiber cement, engineered wood, vinyl, metal and aluminum composite (ACM) panel systems, and architectural rainscreen panels. We help you choose based on budget, building type, and the look you are after.
Are you insured and WorkSafeBC compliant?
Yes — Nixon carries $5M liability insurance and is fully WorkSafeBC compliant, with documented fall-protection and site-safety procedures on every job.
Which areas do you serve?
We serve Greater Vancouver, the Lower Mainland, the Sea-to-Sky corridor, and Vancouver Island — 27 communities in total.
