Modern building exterior clad in James Hardie fiber cement lap siding in Vancouver BC

SIDING & CLADDING · Vancouver BC

Siding & Cladding Installation

Nixon supplies and installs fiber cement, engineered wood, vinyl, metal, and ACM panel cladding across Greater Vancouver — always over a proper rainscreen cavity so the wall drains and breathes. Manufacturer-trained crews, documented assemblies, and one warranty for the whole exterior.

Siding in Vancouver only performs when it is installed over a ventilated rainscreen with correct flashing at every window, door, and penetration. Nixon installs the cladding and the openings, so the system is continuous — no gaps between trades. We work with James Hardie fiber cement, engineered wood, premium vinyl, and architectural metal and ACM panels.

Installed the Right Way

Over a Rainscreen

Every cladding system we install sits on furring with a drained, back-ventilated cavity. This pressure-equalized assembly is what keeps wind-driven Vancouver rain out of the structure.

Flashed at Every Opening

Window heads, sills, jambs, decks, and penetrations are flashed and taped before cladding goes on. Because we install the windows too, these details are never an afterthought.

To Manufacturer Spec

Fastener type, spacing, clearances, and expansion gaps follow each manufacturer install manual — the requirement to keep product warranties valid.

Our Siding Process

1

Assessment & Material Selection

We inspect the existing wall, discuss budget and look, and recommend a cladding system. For re-clads we check the sheathing and barrier condition before quoting.

2

Tear-off & Barrier

Old cladding is removed, damaged sheathing replaced, and a continuous water-resistive barrier installed with proper laps and flashing.

3

Rainscreen & Cladding

Furring strips create the drainage cavity, then the new cladding is installed to spec with correct fasteners, trims, and sealant joints.

4

Detailing & Handover

Corners, transitions, and openings are finished, the site is cleaned, and we walk the work with you before final payment.

Siding FAQ

How much does siding cost in Vancouver?

Fiber cement siding installed over a rainscreen typically runs $14–$24 per square foot depending on profile, height, and access. Vinyl is lower; ACM and architectural metal panels are higher. We provide a fixed quote after assessing the wall.

Is James Hardie better than vinyl?

Fiber cement is non-combustible, more durable, and holds paint longer — a strong fit for Vancouver lot lines and fire-spacing requirements. Vinyl costs less and is lower-maintenance. We help you weigh budget against performance and look.

Do you install over a rainscreen?

Always. A ventilated, drained rainscreen cavity is required by the City of Vancouver for most walls and is essential in our climate. We never face-fasten cladding directly to the barrier.

Can you re-clad while keeping my windows?

Often yes — but a re-clad is the ideal time to upgrade windows, since the openings are exposed and we can flash everything together. We will advise based on the condition of your existing units.
